EECA runs a contestable Innovation Fund to provide support for the growth and development of solar water heating and heat pump water heaters.
The fund has been offering grants for up to 50% of the cost of a project, up to a maximum of $100,000 for each grant.
There are three broad categories:
- Solar water heating
- Heat pump water heaters; and
- Other (innovative approaches to improving the uptake of solar or heat pump water heating)
Two rounds have been completed in November 2007 and April 2008.
Around $600,000 towards more than 14 projects have progressed from the first round and around $950,000 for 31 projects has been offered for the second.
